- Technical oversight: Read and interpret blueprints, job orders, and welding procedure specifications (WPS) to guide the team and ensure products meet precise engineering requirements.
- Resource allocation: Assign tasks to welders and fabricators based on their skill sets and the specific needs of each project.
- Quality control: Implement and enforce quality standards, including inspecting finished welds and fabricated parts to ensure they meet project specifications and are free of defects.
- Inventory management: Track and manage the inventory of raw materials, such as metal stock, welding wire, and gases. Order new supplies as needed to prevent production delays.
- Equipment maintenance: Oversee the maintenance of welding machines, plasma cutters, saws, and other fabrication equipment to ensure they are in safe and efficient working condition.
- Safety enforcement: Ensure all employees strictly follow safety protocols for welding and fabrication, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and hot work procedures.
Mechanical equipment assembly department
- Assembly coordination: Direct and organize the daily assembly of mechanical components and equipment according to production timelines.
- Instruction interpretation: Read and interpret complex assembly drawings, blueprints, and work instructions to ensure components are fitted and assembled correctly.
- Troubleshooting: Assist the assembly team in diagnosing and resolving technical or mechanical issues that arise during the assembly process.
- Quality assurance: Conduct in-process and final inspections to verify that assembled equipment meets all quality standards and specifications before shipment or testing.
- Testing and adjustment: Oversee the testing of equipment after assembly to ensure proper performance. Make any necessary adjustments or repairs to achieve optimal functionality.
