The Project Engineer is responsible for managing the technical aspects of assigned projects, performing the engineering and design work required within the budget allocated to meet the requirements of customer specifications. This important position also provides technical assistance for sales and marketing and supports product improvement efforts.


HERE'S WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Review all applicable job data, including plans and specifications, to determine project requirements.
  • Manage the technical aspects of assigned projects through the engineering process. Perform engineering analysis as needed and prepare required calculations, models, layouts, detailed drawings, specifications and instructions, with limited supervision.
  • Check calculations, models, layouts, detailed drawings, specifications and instructions prepared by drafters/designers and other engineers.
  • Knowledge of heavy equipment and rotating machine design.
  • Ability to read and understand complex engineering specifications
  • Ability to read and understand fabrication, erection, and standard engineering drawings
  • Knowledge of welding, fabrication, and assembly techniques pertaining to structural steel
  • Work closely with the project manager to establish project schedules, meet deadlines, and control engineering costs.
  • Communicate directly with the customer together with the project manager to resolve technical issues.
  • Provide technical support to shop and field start-up services.
  • Document and update design procedures on a regular basis.
  • Provide technical support to sales and marketing through specification reviews, cost estimates, sales, drawings, and calculations.
  • Participate in product improvement, reliability, and cost reduction projects.
  • Adheres to all company and corporate policies; Advises project engineers, project managers and/ or other managers on project status.
  • Perform all work in a safe manner, adhering to company and corporate policies.
  • Other duties may be assigned as required.

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS WILL INCLUDE:


  • Positive attitude and ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to apply advanced mathematical equations to complex situations.
  • Ability to read, understand and create specifications as well as general arrangement, fabrication, and erection drawings.
  • Proficiency in a 3D modeling software application.
  • Knowledge of machining, fabrication, and assembly techniques.
  • Knowledge of drafting standards for both mechanical and structural design, including geometric dimensioning and tolerancing GD&T.
  • Strong desire to continue to learn and develop technical expertise.
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, and other MS Office programs.
  • Ability to understand English, at advanced level, via written and verbal communication.

Preferred

  • Proficiency in AutoDesk Inventor and Vault.
  • Experience with STAAD, MathCAD, Visual Basic.
  • Experience using and generating parametric models.



EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE YOU'LL POSSESS:


B.S. degree in Mechanical or Civil engineering from an ABET accredited university with a minimum of 10 years' experience in steel design or in water/wastewater equipment design.

Preferred:

  • 15+ years of experience in managing the technical aspects and performing the design work of custom heavy equipment/machinery or water/wastewater equipment.
  • PE licensure.

WILL I NEED TO TRAVEL:
