The Compensation & Benefits Manager will lead the strategy, design, and administration of compensation programs, benefits and wellness offerings, payroll oversight, and HR compliance for all employees in the U.S. across multiple divisions. This role ensures we remain competitive, compliant, and aligned with business and employee needs. This role with both be strategic and hands-on.

This role will require travel and hybrid (working between the office and remotely).


What is the role?

Compensation

  • Design and implement compelling, competitive, harmonized, well-communicated, locally compliant, and equitable compensation programs, policies, and procedures
  • Key owner for the creation, management, and continuous improvement of the Ovivo job architecture including salary grades and pay ranges
  • Lead participation in compensation surveys and analyze results to maintain competitive pay practices
  • Monitor market trends and make recommendations on salary structures and adjustments
  • In partnership with the HR Director, own annual merit increase and incentive compensation planning process
  • Partner with HR Business Partners and leaders to support equitable and market-aligned compensation decisions

Benefits & Wellness

  • Provide strategic leadership in the design, development, implementation, and daily administration of benefit programs including health, retirement, wellness, and ancillary benefits
  • Oversee all employee benefits programs, including medical, dental, vision, life, disability, wellness initiatives, and 401(k)
  • Manage the annual and ongoing enrollment process, including developing, planning, and implementing various communications and plan descriptions to provide human resources, management, and caregivers with information necessary to understand their benefit programs
  • Oversee the administration and compliance of the company's 401(k) retirement plan, ensuring alignment with ERISA, IRS and DOL regulations
  • Lead annual non-discrimination testing and manage the preparation, review, and submission of Form 5500, ensuring compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements
  • Evaluate benefit offerings and vendor partnerships to ensure quality, cost-effectiveness, and employee satisfaction
  • Design and promote wellness initiatives that support employee health and engagement
  • Manage leave administration for STD, LTD, and FMLA
  • Serve as the subject matter expert on benefit strategy, keeping abreast of market trends, legislative changes, and policy. This includes proposing innovative benefit programs and conducting thorough market research and analysis for senior leadership consideration
  • In collaboration with our benefits broker, design, develop, and implement benefits solutions that are aligned with Ovivo's strategy and competitive with the external market. Improve programs to meet business needs within budget
  • Responsible for communication, education, complex analysis, vendor negotiations and management, cost-driver analysis, cost-containment initiatives, and recommending solutions to changes. Research plan design changes and make recommendations
  • Oversee the administration of employee benefits plans, including new hire orientation, document creation, compliance, enrolling and terminating with carriers, and reconciliation of invoices
  • Work with the HRIS team to ensure benefits administration is operating effectively within HRIS, including updates for changes due to modifications in plans and setting up/managing automatic carrier file feeds as needed
  • Work with all vendors to complete required federal and state audits, internal audits, and benefit audits as required

Payroll

  • Supervise payroll administrator and provide strategic oversight of the U.S. payroll process
  • Ensure payroll compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
  • Partner with Finance and HR on audits, reporting, and payroll-related questions

HR Compliance

  • Serve as the lead for U.S. HR compliance programs and audits
  • Maintain knowledge of and ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations across all states where employees are located
  • Maintain and update employee policies and the employee handbook
  • Partner with Health & Safety Manager on workers' compensation claims and compliance, providing HR support and ensuring accurate payroll and leave coordination
  • Oversee required HR training programs and reporting

Does this sound like you?

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resource Management or Business Management; 7+ years of directly related HR experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 5+ years of Compensation/Benefits experience, with experience and knowledge of market analysis, pay structures, compensation compliance laws/requirements and variable compensation
  • Must have experience developing compensation strategies and rolling out special projects
  • Experience working for an international business is strongly preferred
  • Strong understanding of applicable laws, regulations, and compliances related to compensation, such as FLSA, Equal Pay Act, and EEOC guidelines
  • First and foremost, you will be a team player who engages with your co-workers, peers, executive management and employees at all levels
  • Excellent communication skills both written and oral
  • Strong ability to handle difficult situations and work with management to find the best solution(s)
  • Able to multi-task and prioritize tasks and responsibilities
  • Knowledge of all applicable state and federal laws; this will include state laws for California, Illinois, Utah, Texas and other states we conduct business in
  • Highly proficient in MS Office Suite with the ability to create detailed presentations, power points and Excel spreadsheets to track, analyze and record data
  • Ability to think outside of the box in an effort to handle challenges, opportunities and issues that may arise
  • Experience with HRIS platforms
  • Other duties as assigned
