What is the Opportunity?

Cembrane USA is looking for an experienced and ambitious Manufacturing Engineer to join our team. Cembrane is the world's largest manufacturer of Silicon Carbide membranes, revolutionizing water treatment. As production ramps up to meet demand, we need to grow our team. Cembrane plans to grow production three times by 2028, which will require new equipment, optimized processes etc. Membranes are manufactured through over 30 production steps. You will work closely with the team here and our engineering crew in Denmark, reporting to the Plant Manager.

As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will dive into all production processes, optimizing equipment, work areas, and more. You will be responsible for planning, specifying, implementing, and refining manufacturing processes, equipment, and methods to produce our unique product and meeting our growing demand. You will proactively analyze the entire production and identify possibilities for improvement while proposing and releasing new/improved processes and equipment to implement said improvements. You are expected to become a go-to resource for any troubleshooting of our firing process which is a key element of producing the Cembrane membrane technology. Experience with high temperature furnaces is therefore a plus, but training will be provided for a candidate with little to no experience in this area.

The role is based in our Hutto, TX facility.

What is the role?

  • Manufacturing process development under consideration of product quality and capacity requirements with direct supplier contact
  • Ensures manufacturing processes meet quality, cycle time, output, ergonomic and cost requirements.
  • Coordinates the installation, startup, acceptance testing FAT, validation of equipment and tooling SAT including operator training and deployment to production for assigned manufacturing processes
  • Continuously improves manufacturing processes and methods for scrap and costreduction, quality improvement, efficiency, output increase, by analyzing current state and planning future state under consideration of ergonomic requirements, work flow, material staging, space requirements, and work area layout.
  • Develop, document and maintain documents that define and standardize operations, including but not limited to parts data, BOM, testing plans, labor standards, work instructions, test instructions, control plans, work place visualization and other process documents.
  • Conducts process capability studies including collecting, analyzing, and summarizing process data information and trends. Derives and implements measures to improve process capability.
  • Optimizing firing profiles of highly advanced >3500°F furnaces
  • Remote on-call monitoring of furnaces can be expected on rotation. Actions only required if alarms are triggered.

Does this sound like you?

  • B.S. degree in mechanical, electrical, industrial, manufacturing engineering & or other appropriate technology discipline
  • Minimum 3 years of Manufacturing Engineering experience with proven track record in planning, implementing and improving production processes and equipment.
  • Experience working with all functions of a Manufacturing Operation: Production, Quality Management, Purchasing/Supply Chain Management, Maintenance, Environmental, Health and Safety, and external Suppliers and Contractors.
  • Strong desire to learn and develop technical expertise in manufacturing processes, to evaluate and identify process parameters most important for process control and product quality.
  • Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principals and tools and a desire to support the implementation of a Lean culture.
  • Understanding of quality management systems, quality tools, and the importance of data tracking and analysis
  • Positive attitude and the ability to establish effective communication and working relationships with peers, managers, suppliers in assigned areas and to promote cross-functional collaboration in a team environment.
  • Self-motivated, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects effectively, to work independently and with minimal oversight from Manager.
  • Close proximity to job site preferred
