As Plant Operator, you will focus on general operation of onsite Water Treatment system and sewage lagoon, ensuring all facilities are well maintained and remain in regulatory compliance.

The position is located onsite in Nunavut, and is based out of Spruce Grove, Alberta. This role is an onsite industrial operations position and shift work, including fixed night shift may be required.

What is the role?

• Operate onsite water treatment system and sewage lagoon without direct supervision, maintaining the plant in compliance with local and provincial regulations.
• Conduct standard onsite sampling and field testing of operational process parameters. - Enter detailed daily operational data and lab results in daily reports.
• Compile data for monthly and annual reporting as per approvals.
• Ability and willingness to affect minor service and repairs within the treatment systems; work cohesively with management and onsite maintenance teams to effect significant repairs.
• Conduct preventive system maintenance per the Preventative Maintenance Program. Document and manage critical spare parts inventory.
• Manage all onsite consumables daily, including ordering consumables as required.
• Support development of SOPs for various Plant Operations requirements.
• Adhere to and follow all company and client safety regulations.
• Take part in review, updating, and implementation of Plant ERPs, Operations Plans, and Drinking Water Safety Plans as required.
• Participate in on-site tabletop training exercises in accordance with ERPs.
• Maintain and track assigned company tools.
• Maintain company vehicles and submit timely inspection reports as required.
• Assist in training and mentoring Operators in Training

Does this sound like you?

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 3 years work experience in Water and Wastewater Treatment.
• Certified Level I Water Treatment, additional levels of certification considered an asset Certified Wastewater Treatment considered an asset.
• Valid Class 5 Drivers license with clean driving record.
• Excellent process monitoring and control abilities.
• Excellent field testing and benchtop testing abilities.
• Ability to thoroughly comprehend Regulatory Approvals and other directives.
• Excellent mechanical and troubleshooting skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work effectively with clients as well as internally with operational personnel.
• Competent understanding of Company/Client procedures.
• Proven ability to multi-task and efficiently respond to changing priorities.
• Computer proficiency in Windows, Microsoft 365, and E-mail.
• Superior organizational and time management skills; ability to meet deadlines.
