The Biosolids Operations Manager is responsible for supervising, guiding, and mentoring a team of Project Managers and Engineers. This key leadership position within the Biosolids Team directs all project execution activities with full responsibility of P&L, budgeting, financial forecasting, and EBITDARM (or similar financial metrics). The role ensures outstanding customer service in line with company standards and drives the overall performance, profitability, and growth of Biosolids projects and products.

The role is based in our Salt Lake City Office and will enjoy our hybrid working model.

Expected domestic travel is 10-25%.

What is the role?

  • Oversee overall product bookings, design, development, delivery, completion, and profitability of all Biosolids projects.
  • Plan and administer the group's operations budget.
  • Directly mentor team of project managers and provide guidance and support in project execution duties.
  • Direct engineering, planning/purchasing, and service teams to deliver equipment within the sold value and committed delivery timeframes.
  • Continuously review products and recommend changes or updates to strengthen the company's competitive position.
  • Ensure prompt and effective responses to customer inquiries and needs.
  • Approve and promote training, development, and design exercises for team members.
  • Coordinate regularly with Marketing to monitor present backlog, EBITARM, and determine bidding strategies for key competitive projects.
  • Support the Marketing group in developing new business, growing existing client relationships, and implementing group business and marketing plans.
  • Assist Marketing with business development activities, including attending client meetings, preparing preliminary designs, equipment sizing calculations, project estimates, and presentations.
  • Oversee service for Biosolids products and collaborate with Marketing on pricing and technical specifications.
  • Work with sales, marketing, and strategic planning teams to facilitate client development through marketing and client service programs.
  • Monitor product competitiveness and implement necessary changes.
  • Represent the company at corporate meetings as required.
  • Develop and/or implement new management methods in collaboration with direct supervisor.
  • Adhere to and promote company policies, procedures, and established safety practices.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Does this sound like you?

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil and Environmental, Mechanical, Industrial, Chemical or Process Engineering from an accredited university and 5+ years experience in water/wastewater industry, OR equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret industry-related documents, written specifications, and blueprints.
  • Ability to respond effectively to sensitive inquiries or complaints.
  • Capable of making decisions involving multiple variables in standardized situations.
  • Skilled at making decisions that enhance company profitability, including during product sales.
  • Strong negotiation and contract knowledge.
  • Excellent interpersonal and people management skills.
  • Ability to interpret industry-related drawings and technical documents.
  • Understanding of construction principles.
