As a Project Engineer, you will combine mechanical engineering expertise with strong project management skills in a dynamic, cross-functional environment. You will lead technical design efforts and oversee project execution from initial conception through completion. In this role, you will collaborate closely with sales, contract administration, engineering, procurement, and finance teams. Success requires being a team player with excellent communication skills.

The role is based in our Salt Lake City, UT office, and will enjoy our Hybrid working environment. Travel required: Typically, less than 15-20% travel.
What is the role?
- Review project data, plans and specifications, to determine requirements.
- Manage the technical aspects of assigned projects through the engineering process.
- Perform engineering analysis and prepare calculations, models, layouts, drawings, specifications, and instructions, with limited supervision.
- Verify work prepared by drafters, designers and other engineers.
- Communicate directly with the customer to resolve technical issues.
- Provide technical support to shop and field start-up services.
- Document and update design procedures regularly.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and safety regulations.
- Coordinate the overall profit and loss schedules for project deliverables.
- Creation of procurement schedules, deliverables lists and work breakdown schedules.
- Facilitate project booking, design, development, delivery, completion, and profitability of assigned projects.
- Monitor project schedules and communicate updates to customers and internal teams.
- Participate in equipment start-up and provide technical training.
- Recommend product improvements and standardizations.
- Suggest enhancements to Quality Assurance and Quality Control processes.
- Prepare accounting documents on progress and final invoicing.
- Evaluate and manage warranty claims.
- Negotiate contractual duties.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Does this sound like you?
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Civil engineering from an ABET accredited university with a minimum of 2 years' experience.
- Skilled in applying advanced mathematical equations to complex engineering problems.
- Proficient in a 3D modeling software application (experience with Autodesk Inventor and Vault preferred but not required).
- Able to read and interpret fabrication, erection, and standard engineering drawings
- Knowledgeable in welding, fabrication, and assembly techniques for structural steel.
- Experienced in reading, analyzing, and interpreting complex technical documents (e.g., engineering specifications, mechanical fabrication drawings, contracts).
- Capable of identifying project risks and developing mitigation strategies.
- Strong technical communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to deliver presentations.
- Able to work independently and reliably.
- Solid understanding of project management principles.
- Preferred: Familiarity with basic control systems such as VFD's, PLC's, and Motor Control.
- Ability to lift up to 30LBS
